Pygoras have the spunk of the Pygmy and the gentleness of the Angora. This makes them fun and easy to work with. They respond well to people and make wonderful pets and fantastic 4-H projects.|
Depending on the goat, Pygoras can produce cashmere, mohair, or a blend of these fibers. The mohair is cool, shiny, and silky. It stays silky even as the goat ages. Mohair type goats get shorn twice a year and produce from 1 to 3 pounds of fiber. Cashmere type goats produce true cashmere. It is usually combed out so as to leave the guard-hairs. About 1/2 to 3/4 of a pound is harvested. |
