Genus - Abies, Species - balsamea "Nana"

This is an attractive, mounding form, dark green needles that are arranged circularly on short stems. These are absolutely gorgeous when the center is cleaned out to show the curved, dark branches inside. The growth rate is slow which makes it a perfect "patio bonsai" plant. It prefers moist, acid soils and is tolerant of shade. In maturity it can reach 3 feet by 3 feet. Zone 3 to 6.
